Sundance Studio
Flinders based weaver Emma Shepherd graduated with a BA in Textile Design from RMIT in 2018. The preservation and continuation of hand weaving processes are an integral part of her practise. Her work crosses the boundaries between art and craft, decorative and functional. The slowness that comes from handling each thread, winding it, threading it, knotting it, means that her pieces are imbued with connection and care.
Material is the starting point for all her pieces. Linen, silk, paper, bast fibres form the core of her practice.

Baden Croft
Baden Croft’s practice is influenced by a life spent exploring the rugged Australian wilderness. Based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the early career artist spends countless hours free diving and trudging through bushland in search of a subject or moment that sparks his interest.

Artwork: ‘Clamber’, 2023
100x105cm, Oil on linen
"Clamber" is a captivating artwork that intricately weaves together Croft’s contemplation of pre-colonial forests and the thick, impenetrable bushland faced by Australia's first settlers. Inspired by the rich biodiversity found within the Australian landscape, the piece immerses viewers in the pastel hues of Victorian bush. Croft skilfully captures the essence of dappled light and moist cool air, inviting observers to explore the intricate layers of history and nature within the canvas.

Firmly embedded in this process is a sense of responsibility to design and fabricate high-end lighting that meets the criteria of thoughtfully designed pieces.
The driving force behind South Drawn can be attributed to our two founders, Luke and Christian Mills. By combining their respective skill sets, they collectively lead a team who design and fabricate from our Melbourne-based workshop.
